Music for your wedding

The process of choosing music for a wedding day can certainly be a daunting process for any couple. There are many choices and the questions can be endless. Traditional music or something off the beaten path? Will your Mom cry (and not in a good way) if you do not come down the aisle to the traditional Wedding March from Wagner, or are you eager to try something new? Do you want a DJ or a live band?

We recommend you meet a few sounds experts who specialise for weddings to suss them out and see if they match what you’re looking for. For some of our recommendations, do check out here.

But first to have a better sense of what type of music you want, we’ve gathered some classical and modern wedding music with the help of Amazon to ease the process for you:

  • The Knot Collection of Ceremony and Wedding Music – selected by The Knot’s Carly Roney, US$10.01. One buyer’s review: “This CD includes a nice selection of classical wedding music. When I ordered, I had no idea of what music I wanted or even how to select appropriate music. The accompanying guide breaks down each part of the ceremony and makes it easy to select the right song(s), from the prelude to the postlude, and everything in between. It even includes tips for music during the ceremony, if you so desire. Worth buying even if you plan to hire a DJ!”

  • The Wedding Album presented by Modern Bride, US$6.14. One buyer’s review: “This CD was a great help in providing ideas for our wedding songs. The songs were well chosen and compiled and hearing the original artists really makes a tremendous difference. This is a CD that brides to be should not be without!”

  • A Bride’s Guide to Wedding Music, US$14.82. One buyer’s review: “I searched all over for a CD set that had a somewhat comprehensive list of classical selections that are traditionally played at weddings. When I found this 3 CD set, I was very pleased. It contains 61 works from almost as many composers. This set might not contain the “best recording ever” of each of the selections, however it is very well done and the quality is very good. I used it primarily to choose the pieces that I wanted to have played by the church organist, and so the actual recordings were more for my consumption rather than for use in the ceremony/reception itself.”
